A Star is Born and Pre-K Graduation!

I almost exploded with Pride as we sat in our seats and watched our little Drew Bug walk out on stage all by himself, collecting sticks and throwing them in his cart for the first scene of his Pre-K Graduation play. As I mentioned in my last post, he told me he was the boy…I had no idea that he was “The Boy” who lost his mitten…the subject and main character of the play. Proud does not even begin to describe how I felt.
The stage...

Drew putting the "found mitten" on at the end of the play.

After the play, there was a short intermission and the kids all went back and changed into their graduation caps and gowns. They then marched to the “graduation song” through the gym and up onto the stage.

Next they sang a couple of songs and did the “Cha Cha Slide” dance. We all laughed when Drew stopped in the middle of the dance where they were all doing the “Cha Cha real smooth” portion of the dance and said, “I won’t do that!”  Darren was rather happy with his revolt of the silly dance part.

As they were each called up to receive their diploma, they described what each child’s favorite thing learned in Pre-K and what they wanted to be when they grew up. Drew said his favorite thing was learning to read and that he wanted to be a football player (hmmm…do I have a little Tom Brady on my hands??). Before the ceremony started, the Director of the school said that this class was one of the smartest they have worked with. She said almost all the kids were reading at about a mid-year, 1st grade level and that they were all beyond ready for Kindergarten.

After the ceremony, we all went out for a celebration dinner. I made a cake and decorated it with a top-ten list of Drew’s favorite things about Pre-K.

Before the ceremony, we took some family pictures.

Congratulations Drew! We love you so much and can’t wait to experience all the exciting things in store for you!
