My Guy is FIVE!

And we celebrated...ALL weekend long! Drew turned 5 on Thursday. He had a great day at school because it was the Easter Egg hunt. He brought special cookie treats for his class and was excited to be the class leader and wear the birthday crown.
That evening we took him to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen (his choice) at the mall. Everytime we are at the mall, he ALWAYS wants to jump on the trampoline contraption with the harness that launches kids 9000 ft (slight exaggeration) into the air. Holy crap…my heart stopped while he was on the thing. I can’t believe how high he went. He said he was scared but really you would never have known it.

Here he is getting ready to be launched into space. I'll post video soon so you can really see how high he was flying.

At dinner we gave him his gift. Let me just say that his newest obsession is all things Power Rangers. He really wanted this Power Ranger Samuri Megazord figure. Little did we know...it was nearly impossible to find. Darren had to go to 6 different stores to find this guy and this was in addition to the three plus stores I had already visited. WOW!!! But we were so glad we did because he LOVED his gift! It was so great to see how happy he was when he opened his present…ecstatic and well worth the effort to find!

Drew's new best friend...Megazord!
"Here is how you do it, Dad!"
Brooke even picked up a little something special for Drew...new SpiderMan water googles for the pool this summer!

Friday was spent preparing for his big party that we had planned for Saturday. The weather was seriously stressing me out. Friday night was full of storms that produced disastrous tornadoes in the STL area. Luckily our area was not hit by any tornadoes but the reality of these storms and the devastation caused really reinforces my belief that you should not take mother nature for granted.

Here is a before and after picture of a Bridgeton neighborhood. So SAD!

Saturday morning it rained ALL morning. Thankfully, the pavilion I rented was huge and was able to provide shelter from the rain and allowed my AWESOME, super helpful, patient Mom and I to prepare for the party.

About a half hour before the party the rain STOPPED!!! The playground had a rubberized ground surface so there were no muddy messes to contend with and the kids were able to run wild and play!

My AWESOME cousin Mindee was sweet enough to offer her talented face painting services. She painted all the kids faces as the Power Ranger of their choice. By far the hit of the party!

Lunch!

Presents!
Rip Razor 360!!!

A new costume for the collection...

Overall, the day turned out GREAT and fun was had by all the little Power Rangers!

She Got Her Hair Did!!

I can’t avoid it any longer…she needs to get the scraggly mullet cut (insert sad face here). Something about a little girl and dreams of long beautiful locks of hair. This for the record has always been my dream since I grew up with extremely fine hair that never grew past my shoulders. Side note…my bff and beautician Tiph commented on how thick my hair was yesterday as she was cutting my hair (insert happy face here). So naturally I’m hoping that my little peanut inherited the thick hair gene from her daddy…we will see.

Here are the before pictures of the scraggly mullet head.

We had a little impromptu photo session before heading out the door...she was in a SILLY mood!

She was such a good girl while getting her hair cut...no cries and she sat still!

And finally some piggies to show off her new look!

Boot Scooting and Spring Spheres!

There are signs of a girly girl emerging from this little tank! Her new word of the week is Pretty. She calls her hair bows pretties and the way she says it is so cute. She whispers with a slight little stutter …puh puh pretties. So soft and delicate that I almost forget how rough she can be….and then she slaps me in the face, pulls my hair and scratches me. Back to reality!
And the girl loves her shoes!!! She’s obviously not ready to trade in the winter Uggs for the spring sandals. She thought they would be a perfect accessory for her pj’s last night. My little boot scooter!!

Hmmm...I wonder why she has the nickname SQUATSKEE?

Easter eggs …by far her favorite toy right now. Laurie told me yesterday that the new PC term for Easter Eggs is SPRING SPHERES…ummm, no thanks…we’ll stick to Easter Eggs.

On Saturday morning I took Drew over to the subdivision Easter Egg hunt. It was FREEZING and sooo windy. Brooke stayed home with Dad and took a nap while we braved the elements to ride a pony, jump in a bounce house, picture with the Easter Bunny, scarf down 1 ½ hotdogs, egg painted on cheek (obviously painted by a high school kid with no art abilities) and participated in a SPRING SHERE hunt (HA...I have to use it a few times because I find it ridiculously funny!). Seriously, I could not feel my fingers when we left but the little man had fun…

Zebra print is very in for ponies right now...
 The "artist" at work?

Hmmm, the artist may want to choose another profession.
Sydney obviously went to the more experienced face painter...glitter and all!

Madison and Drew with the Bunny...Drew wanted to know why he had a zipper on his back...again....ummm?
The Spring Sphere Hunt...say that 5 times in a row!

This week is going to be super busy. Mr. Drew is about to turn FIVE on Thursday so I have lots of preparing to do for his party on Saturday. It’s going to be big because turning FIVE is huge and he so deserves it! He is such a great kid and I just want to celebrate how lucky we are to have such an awesome little man in our lives.

Pick a Winner!

Brooke...someday this picture will come back to haunt you!

She thinks she is so funny and it doesn't help that Drew thinks her new hobby is hysterical.
