Take me out to the Ballgame…

As I sat back in my lawn chair and watched Drew’s first T-ball game, I couldn't help thinking that this was just the beginning. The beginning of countless hours spent at the ball fields. It just made me feel like another milestone has been met. I know it’s only T-ball but as I sat there watching the game, the next 16 years of his life flashed before my eyes. I have a strong feeling that much of that time will be spent watching Drew on his various sports teams. So here we go…

His team is the red team and appropriately so, they decided to be the Cardinals. This week we will be going to get his name and number printed on the back of his “jersey” (t-shirt). He is able to pick his own number and of course, he picked number 11…just like Dad.

Don’t get me wrong…he has the attention span of a nat and was EASILY distracted by the infield dirt and snapping the button on the batting helmet, but overall…he loved it! I’m sure Darren has made a mental list of things he needs to work on…like stepping and throwing at the same time, figuring out if he wants to bat left or right handed and running the bases in the right order. Regardless, it’s all part of the overall experience and he had so much fun.

His favorite part of the game seems to be running the bases. At one point he was on 1st and just decided to take off and run to 3rd…even though the batter hadn’t hit the ball and I guess 2nd base must have been out of the way so he opted for a short cut to 3rd. The lady sitting next to me was laughing and said “oh no, we have ONE on the run!” I was so proud to say, “yes, that ONE is mine.” Good times!

Miss B is 7 Months Old!

I look at Miss B everyday and wish I could capture every second of her little life. One of my greatest fears is that I will forget what it was like to see her little baby face light up with a smile or the feeling I get as I watch her play and discover something new or how she kicks her little feet uncontrollably when she is super excited. I just don’t want to forget how happy she makes me. So I try to capture as many of the details as I can on camera and video. I find comfort in these pictures because I know someday when I need to be reminded of what it was like when my kiddos were babies…I have these pictures.
These pictures will most definitely take me back to a place that will bring an instant smile to my face and most likely a tear to my eye. After all, it is the little things in life that mean the most…but sadly, the little things are most often the easiest things to forget. And well…I just don’t ever want to forget. So here is to Miss B and the first 7 months of her lovely little life.

Love you baby girl!

Memorial Day Fun!

The kiddos and I hung out ALL weekend. Dad went to Indianapolis for the INDY 500 with Uncle Jimmy and as for the rest of the family; they were ALL out of town. So I was left wondering…”what should we do?” For once, we did not have to be anywhere or do anything. No agendas, time crunches, packing up the entire house and rushing out the door to be somewhere. I LOVED it. We hung out at the house and PLAYED hard all weekend. We spent lots of time outside and kicked off summer with all the summer favorites. Sprinklers, waterguns, bbqs, popsicles, planted flowers (played in the dirt), neighborhood friends and hot sweaty days. I could not think of a better way to spend the long weekend. Here’s to a great summer filled with all your favorites!

Notice the little mans crack in this picture...HA!
